When automobile manufacturers started to design and develop quieter cars in the early 2000s, Kurarary invested a lot of effort into developing a PVB interlayer with improved sound damping properties.
Conventional laminated windshields and tempered sidelites have only limited sound damping properties especially in the human ear sensitive frequency range between 1 and 6 kiloherz (kHz). With the development of Acoustic PVB interlayers, the car manufacturers had the possibility to combat the level of noise penetration in vehicles.
